Stickley Bungalow Living Room with Stone Fireplace and Window Seat (1909)

An illustration from Craftsman Homes of a bungalow living room with a stone fireplace, a built-in window seat, beamed ceiling and a portion of the dining room beyond.

Design characteristics

This plate captures the relaxed bungalow interior: a rough stone fireplace with a simple wood shelf, a low window seat, exposed ceiling beams and woodwork in a single warm finish. The lower image shows a balcony overlooking the living room. Stone fireplaces with wood shelves are well suited to mountain and Front Range houses in Colorado, where this rustic side of the Arts and Crafts style feels at home.
