Heavy Timber Doorway, Timberline Lodge
A heavy timber doorway at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood, framed with thick hand-hewn posts and a lintel and leading to a stair.
Design characteristics
Doorways at Timberline are framed with massive timbers rather than flat casings, so each opening feels substantial. This approach, thick posts and a heavy lintel, is one of the simplest ways to give a mountain home lodge character, and it can be achieved with timber-clad casings over standard framing.
