Stickley Entrance Hall and Built-in Glazed China Cupboards (1909)

A plate from Craftsman Homes showing a characteristic Craftsman interior with an entrance hall and staircase, plus a dining room with built-in glazed china cupboards.

Design characteristics

The upper drawing shows how a Craftsman entrance hall flows directly into the living room past the stair. The lower drawing shows glazed china cupboards built in at either side of a window, with drawers below. These flanking cupboards are a simple, effective way to frame a window or doorway with storage.
