Interior of the Harold C. Price Sr. House, Paradise Valley, Arizona (Frank Lloyd Wright)

An interior view by Carol M. Highsmith of Frank Lloyd Wright's Harold C. Price Sr. House in Paradise Valley, Arizona, a 1950s desert home with built-in seating and wood details.

Design characteristics

Wright designed this winter house in the 1950s for Harold Price, the oil-pipeline executive for whom he also built the Price Tower in Oklahoma. Its interiors combine concrete block with built-in seating, wood trim and generous openings to the desert. The built-ins are low and continuous, keeping views open. It is a useful reference for warm-climate or open-plan homes that want Wright's sense of shelter without heavy enclosure.
