Breakfast Nook and Labor-Saving Built-ins, Curtis Woodwork (1926)

A page from the 1926 Curtis Woodwork catalog showing labor-saving built-ins, including a built-in breakfast nook with benches and table and a fold-away ironing board cabinet.

Design characteristics

The breakfast nook, a built-in table and two benches in an alcove off the kitchen, became a fixture of 1920s houses. Curtis sold it as a ready-made unit. This page shows the nook alongside other labor-saving built-ins. A breakfast nook remains one of the best uses of a small kitchen alcove, and benches with storage seats add useful space.
