Linenfold Panel, St Andrew's Church
A carved linenfold panel in St Andrew's Church in England, an example of the folded-cloth carving used on Tudor church furnishings and domestic paneling.
Church furnishings preserve many of the best surviving examples of linenfold, because pews, screens and stalls have stayed in place for centuries. This panel shows the motif in a typical frame of moulded stiles and rails. It is a useful reference for panel proportions: linenfold works best in tall, narrow panels, which makes it well suited to doors and wainscot rather than wide cabinet fronts.
Tall linenfold door or wainscot panels in oak; Signature tier.
A custom version typically runs $32–$65 per sq ft of wall, shipped as a kit.
