Stickley Bookcase with Glazed Doors and Through-Tenons (1909)

An illustration from Craftsman Homes of a Stickley bookcase that makes decoration out of its structure, with glazed doors, visible through-tenons and simple pulls.

Stickley's furniture showed off its joinery as ornament. This bookcase has two glazed doors divided into small panes, side stiles that run past the top and bottom, and keyed through-tenons where the shelves meet the sides. It is a perfect model for Arts and Crafts cabinet fronts: frame-and-panel doors with divided lights, square proportions and visible, honest construction.
