Byrdcliffe Arts and Crafts Linen Press (c. 1904)
An oak and tulip-poplar linen press made around 1904 at the Byrdcliffe Arts and Crafts Colony in Woodstock, New York, with decorative door panels and brass hardware.
The Byrdcliffe colony was founded in the early 1900s as a utopian community of artists and craftspeople, and its furniture shop produced a small number of pieces in a short period. This linen press shows the colony's style: a plain, sturdy case with decorative panels on the doors, made from American hardwoods. Linen presses are worth revisiting for modern homes. The same form, a deep cupboard over drawers, makes an excellent built-in linen closet or pantry cabinet.
Oak or poplar cupboard-over-drawers with CNC-carved door panels; Signature tier.
A custom version typically runs $75–$125 per sq ft, shipped finished.
