Stair and Interior of the Horta Museum, Brussels
The interior of Victor Horta's own house and studio in Brussels, now the Horta Museum, with a stair lit by a glass roof and curving metal and wood details.
Victor Horta was a founder of Art Nouveau architecture, and his house in Saint-Gilles, built around 1898 to 1901, is one of its masterpieces. The stair rises beneath a glass roof, with curving metal supports, lamps and a wooden handrail that flow together. Horta designed every element as part of one line. For a modern stair, the takeaway is continuity: let the handrail, balusters and newel follow a single flowing curve.
Curved handrail and newel with CNC-shaped balusters; Heirloom tier, quoted per project.
A custom version typically runs $35–$95 per linear foot, shipped.
