Elevator Lobby, Appraisers Building, San Francisco
An elevator lobby in the Appraisers Building in San Francisco, photographed by Carol M. Highsmith, showing Moderne wall finishes, metal elevator doors and streamlined trim.
Later federal buildings moved from the ornate early Art Deco style toward the smoother Streamline Moderne. This lobby shows that evolution: polished wall surfaces, flush metal elevator doors and crisp horizontal trim with very little ornament. It is a useful reference for anyone who likes the Deco era but prefers a cleaner look, especially for lobby-like entries, stair halls and paneled hallways.
Flush wall panels with reveals and horizontal banding in veneer or paint; Signature tier.
A custom version typically runs $32–$65 per sq ft of wall, shipped as a kit.
