Dining Room Built-ins, Molly Brown House, Denver
The dining room of the Molly Brown House Museum in Denver, showing a built-in mirrored sideboard and a glazed china cabinet set into the room's late-Victorian woodwork.
Victorian dining rooms were designed around storage for china, silver and linens. In the Molly Brown House, completed in 1889, a mirrored sideboard and a glazed china cabinet are integrated with the room's woodwork, and a bay of tall windows brings in light. The museum displays period clothing in the room, as seen here. Built-in dining storage is one of the most practical features to recreate in an older Denver home, and it works equally well as a coffee bar or butler's pantry today.
Built-in buffet with mirror back and flanking glazed cabinets, in stained oak or cherry; Signature tier.
A custom version typically runs $700–$1,050 per linear foot, installed in Colorado.
