Paneled Interior Doors from the Curtis Woodwork Catalog (1926)

A page from the 1926 Curtis Woodwork catalog showing stock paneled interior doors of the kind used throughout Foursquare and Denver Square houses of the 1910s and 1920s.

Curtis Companies of Clinton, Iowa, sold standardized millwork through lumber dealers across the country, and its catalogs show what finished an ordinary American house of the period. This page illustrates paneled interior doors with simple, flat or slightly raised panels and plain rails. Five-panel and two-panel doors like these are found in many Denver Squares, the boxy brick houses built across Denver in the decades around 1900. When original doors are missing, matching their panel layout is the key to a convincing restoration.
